Lieutenant J. Paul Vance, Commanding Officer, Public Information Office, Connecticut State Police
Lieutenant David Delvecchia, Commanding Officer, Major Crimes Unit, Connecticut State Police
Lieutenant Vance and Lieutenant Delvecchia were involved in the investigation of the Newtown/Sandy Hook Elementary School Tragedy that occurred in Newtown, Connecticut, on December 14, 2012. This shooting resulted in the deaths of twenty-eight children, adults, and the perpetrator. There were two persons who survived non-lethal injuries.

Fire/EMS Battalion Chief Stuart Rodeffer, Northwest Fire District, Tucson AZ.
Captain Gwaltney, Captain Nanos, and Fire/EMS Battalion Chief Rodeffer were the incident commanders during the initial response and subsequent investigation of the attempted assassination of U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, in Tucson, Arizona, on January 8, 2011. This shooting resulted in the deaths of six persons, including a federal judge, and thirteen persons who survived non-lethal injuries.

Lt. Rusty Wilder, Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, Tacoma, WA.
Lt. Wilder and Detective Anderson were the lead investigators in the investigation of the murder of four Lakewood, Washington, Police Officers in a local coffee shop as they prepared to begin their shifts on November 29, 2009.

Inspector Terry Kohlhauser, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, ‘E’ Division, Southeast District Major Crimes Unit, Kelowna, British Columbia
Supt. Williams was the incident commander and Inspector Kohlhauser was the lead investigator in the investigation of the murder of four RCMP Constables as they were attempting to execute a search warrant in Mayerthorpe, Alberta, on March 3, 2005. This incident was the worst one-day loss of life for the RCMP in 100 years
If time allows, there will also be additional case studies by selected investigators/prosecutors from Montana agencies as well as an opportunity to participate in group discussions and case reviews for attendees. Attendance is normally limited to law enforcement, corrections, coroners, prosecutors and military personnel. This year participants from Fire/Rescue/EMS Agencies and Hospital Emergency Room staff are encouraged to attend. All attendees are required to show law enforcement/fire/ems/hospital identification at the conference registration.
The conference will be POST certified training through the MLEA and tuition will be $195 per attendee for registrations received by September 31, 2013 or $220 per attendee for registration received after that date. (An agency paying for three attendees will receive tuition waived for a fourth attendee.)
